Since merging in June 2011 to become the largest RFID specialist in the world Bibliotheca has gone from strength to strength in expanding its business activities in all its operating markets and increasing its global customer base. Recently, this customer base was expanded further with the addition of a new library in the Southern California area; Newport Beach Public Library.

Newport Beach Public Library serves the city of Newport Beach, California. Currently undergoing renovation at its central location, the Library wanted to offer the best in state-of-the-art technology once completed, while also ensuring they provided a more efficient self-service facility to all patrons and that stock inventories could be completed in a faster and easier manner.

Having received recommendations on Bibliotheca's RFID products from a number of local libraries and exploring the options available to them, Newport Beach Public Library decided to commission Bibliotheca for the project - the installation of which commenced in June, beginning with the tagging of the Library's items with Bibliotheca's RFID smartlabel tags.

Commenting on the project, Genesis Hansen, Reference and Web Services Coordinator at Newport Beach Public Library said: "Bibliotheca is one of the dominant library RFID vendors, particularly in southern California, and when we spoke to other local libraries they were very happy with the products and service they received from the company.

Bibliotheca's positive reputation and competitive pricing made them the best choice for our RFID implementation. We are so excited to be moving forward with RFID - we know that our customers will appreciate the increased speed and convenience, being able to check out multiple items at once and to pay fees at the self-check station. Staff is also excited about the ways in which RFID will help us manage our inventory and improve the security of our materials. We consistently strive to provide the best service to our customers, and we feel that RFID is a great way to continue moving forward in service excellence in Newport Beach."

Once complete the Library will be fully equipped with a range of Bibliotheca's RFID products, including, 4 smartserve 200 counter top kiosks that are both non-intrusive and easy to use, 7 smartstation 200 desktop solutions that allow for easy programming and the verifying of RFID tags, 1 smartstation 700 which allow for mobile tagging and inventories, and a set of smartgate 100 security gates, which offer advanced detection and security properties.

Upon being selected to undertake the RFID project Al Coalla, Director of Sales North America, stated; "Newport Beach is a very influential library in the SoCal area. We are very pleased that they have selected Bibliotheca for the implementation of RFID at the enlarged and remodeled Central Library. They join the growing family of other Los Angeles Area public and academic libraries that have become long-standing Bibliotheca customers."
