Elite Medical Supply of New York has improved their operational efficiency by deploying CYBRA Corporation EdgeMagic asset tracking solution to track medical supplies in their inventory at their West Seneca warehouse location.
Elite Medical Supply is a Durable Medical Equipment supplier that specializes in disorders of the spine. They decided to replace their former manual process of adding and removing items from their inventory in favor of using bar code technology to minimize displacement and easily locate medical supplies. Before adopting CYBRA's tracking solution, Elite had a labor-intensive manual process for receiving and tracking and had no way of determining how much product was in any location aside from their main storage. Inventory management was done the old fashioned way by counting stock regularly to determine reorder needs.
CYBRA's solution had Elite's personnel affix unique bar code labels to every medical item in their inventory. When supplies arrive, a staff member scans the bar code with a hand-held scanner and this executes a "check-in" by clicking a button which performs the action automatically. When a staff member needs to ship an order to a customer, they select the "check-out" operation, enter the order number and each product item is scanned. Scanned data updates the EdgeMagic Inventory database reflecting changes to the inventory once the check-in or check-out is confirmed. As products in inventory drop below a predetermined level an alert is triggered to remind staff to reorder that particular item.
