ARCONTIA TECHNOLOGY AB, a Swedish producer of contactless smart card readers and terminals, recently announced that Handal Indah Sdn Bhd (Causeway Link), one of the largest bus company providers, based in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, has integrated onboard light bus validators from Arcontia into their new ticketing system.
Handal Indah recently implemented a new fare payment system based on NXP's MIFARE contactless technology. The ManjaLink fare card system is the first contactless-card based Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) system introduced for public transport in Johor Bahru. The system utilizes ARC2330 validators from Arcontia, providing faster, easier and more convenient means of payment for travellers.
The ARC2330 validator from Arcontia is a compact ISO 14443 A/B smart card reader with a graphical LCD display. Compliant with the entire MIFARE family, Smart MX, FeliCa, Calypso and ISO 18092 Near Field Communication (NFC), ARC2330 is ideal for high frequency contactless applications that require speed and convenience for fast transactions and quick passenger throughput.
Handal Indah owns approximately 400 stage and express busses, operating throughout the city of Johor Bahru, interstate and cross-border to Singapore. By the middle of 2012, all cross-border buses to Singapore will be upgraded with the new AFC system and ARC2330 validators.
