3M RFID and Automated Materials Handling Meet Library Needs |

[09/23/10]
3M Library Systems recently announced two new customers that have chosen 3M library solutions to meet the demands in their communities and better service their patrons.
The Haverhill Public Library in Massachusetts has installed 3M's newly developed 5-bin automated materials handling system (AMH).
This system uses barcodes to check items in and is one of hundreds of 3M AMH systems installed in libraries. At Haverhill, the 3M system replaced one the library had been using. Haverhill chose 3M for its quiet system design, as well as the responsiveness and flawless execution of the 3M team.
Ela Public Library in Lake Zurich, Illinois chose 3M RFID to replace a competitive RFID system, and is one of several U.S. libraries transitioning to 3M RFID. A 7-bin 3M Intelligent Return and Sorter System with one staff and two patron inductions will be installed next month. .3M assisted Ela in the migration to the new ISO standards. Libraries select 3M for the performance, functionality and long-term reliability of its products. Ela also chose 3M RFID to enhance patron satisfaction through increased self-service.
