TAGSYS, the global leader in item-level RFID solutions, and NXP Semiconductors, the independent semiconductor company founded by Philips and market leader in RFID chips, announced availability of the TAGSYS Folio 370L Tag Family based on NXP's new ICODE SLI-L IC. Designed specifically to meet the unique requirements of the library market, the Folio 370L Tag Family features high performance, password protected EAS (Electronic Article Surveillance) and meets the emerging NISO (US National Information Standards Organization) data model standard for libraries. Combined, the increase in performance and additional features result in improved read rates and security for library patrons as well as enhanced privacy for borrowers. The ease of use that RFID brings to the borrowing experience is enhanced by the Folio 370L Tag Family which enables library patrons to execute all transactions within the library more quickly and safely. TAGSYS is the first company to offer a product line based on the NXP ICODE SLI-L IC.

"Libraries across the world are increasingly adopting RFID technology," said Jan-Willem Reynaerts, general manager, RFID, NXP Semiconductors. "Our introduction of the ICODE SLI-L IC builds on the success of the ICODE SLI IC used in more than 60% of all library RFID installations worldwide. Reference installations with TAGSYS include the public libraries in Hamburg, Germany, Shenzhen, China and Seattle, United States. The new ICODE SLI-L offers just the right amount of memory for the library data standard together with benchmark read range, security and privacy. As the leading supplier of RFID ICs, NXP is committed to drive together with our partner TAGSYS the adoption of RFID in libraries through continuous innovation."

"TAGSYS' partnership with NXP has resulted in two breakthrough developments for the RFID industry - the ICODE UID OTP standard for the pharmaceutical industry and now the SLI-L technology for the library market," said Elie Simon, CEO TAGSYS. "With the proven return on investment and rapid adoption of RFID in Libraries, TAGSYS and NXP are pleased to offer the Library industry's highest value, fit for purpose solution."

The TAGSYS Folio 370L Tag Family and NXP ICODE SLI-L feature advanced communication signaling resulting in up to 20% better read range as well as a password protected EAS feature protecting against illicit manipulation of the theft protection, thus maximizing performance, reliability and security in the application. In addition, to comply with the emerging global NISO and Danish data model standard, designed to standardize tag data across the library industry, the Folio 370L Tag Family and ICODE SLI-L are ISO 15693 compliant, and feature a 256bit user memory block and standard AFI security code. With the unique privacy feature the book label can be transformed into a quiet mode, when it is borrowed, protecting the privacy of the borrower. Back in the library it will be reverted into public mode again. Standardization under the NISO and Danish data model will accelerate RFID adoption within the library segment by ensuring interoperability from book manufacturer to library.
