| Description | Designed with optimal architecture for contactless systems, Sony's contactless smart card technology "FeliCa" is widely deployed in various applications where high performance and security is required. Products made with RC-S962 Standard FeliCa chip have shown its reliability and performance in number of large-scale successful deployments throughout the world.
Another contactless chip RC-S965 Felica Lite comes at a lower price compared to conventional FeliCa RC-S962 chip for products where cost is critical. RC-S965 FeliCa Lite chip has the same command sets as the current DES-based Standard FeliCa card system so that the product with this new chip can easily be introduced into existing services.
The main differences between Standard FeliCa and FeliCa lite are:
*Memory size: FeliCa Lite provides 14 blocks of user memory (224 bytes), while the Standard FeliCa provides 154 blocks (2464 bytes).
*Speed: FeliCa Lite only supports 212kbps, while Standard FeliCa supports both, 212kbps and 424kbps.
*Memory organization: FeliCa Lite does not support multiple partitions, Standard FeliCa does.
*Command set: FeliCa Lite implements a limited command set with lightweight authentication functions, while Standard FeliCa provides full-featured authentication and encryption functions for secure applications.
SAG has been working with Sony on the development of FeliCa Lite products with RC-S965 chips and promoting them to the worldwide market for differnet applications such as membership ID cards, loyalty programs, e-ticketing and NFC operation. Now, SAG is pleased to announce that Standard FeliCa Products with RC-S962 chips will also be included in the product portforlio to further fulfill the advanced requirements from customers.
