| Description | Mantis™ readers detect and interpret the radio frequency beacon emitted by our tags in order to identify them and provide information to determine their location. The reader range is adjustable and can cover distances of up to 1,000 feet, depending on the operating environment and type of antenna used. Installation of the reader is easy and can be accomplished by anyone familiar with standard wired and wireless networking infrastructures. As Mantis readers are compatible with both wired and wireless networks, they can be rapidly integrated into an organization’s existing infrastructure.
Our Mantis readers come in two forms, the fixed reader and the PC card reader, each of which is designed for different applications. Both versions contain our advanced, patent protected, anti-collision algorithms that provide the ability to resolve large numbers of simultaneous tags and to adapt to RF noise in the environment.
Fixed reader – Provides dual channels for diversity, a native Ethernet interface, flexible ranging capabilities via software (e.g. the sensitivity can be attenuated), high throughput, and a compact 6-inch by 6-inch form factor. It can be hooked to different sets of antennas to extend its range up to 1,500 feet.
PC card reader – Provides a single channel, standard PCMCIA form factor and is designed for OEMs to embed as a module into a third party handheld computer.
