It might work, but may not be reliable enough to give your consistency accuracy. As far as I remember, no RFID can provide the accuracy you request. The most close one is TrackMind Precision Location System from S5 Systems. But it is still have the accuracy of a few feets.

Hi all,

I am working on a development project where I need accurate real time distance measurement over a distance of about 2 meters and am looking into the possibility of using RFID's as a measurement tool.

Maybe someone are able to answer some of my questions, it would help me greatly.

Is it possible to use passive RFID's to accurately (about 10 mm is enough) measure distances real-time (with real-time output) over a range of 0 - 2 meters?

If so, what kind of combination of equipment could you recommend? And what would they cost, per unit or bought per 10?

It would be great if someone are able to answer these questions for me. Thanks in advance.

Kind regards,

Bram Sterke
