Hi,
Im currently research on UHF and Im new in it.

I would like to know whats the different or how we explain theoritically that why the performance of tags are different.

Im using the SMARTID eveluation kit and tried with 4types of tags such as Rafsec short dipole, dogbone, duel dipole and another one is from Alien.

How we can tell the different? is it the tag's antenna design effect? or the IC they used effect it? or both?

Hello Gong,
You have to get experience in working with different tags in differenet environment.

1. You should make out the how the each tag behaves with Orientation, Anticollision, Read Distance
2. You should also monitor how the eah tag behaves in Liquid's, Metal and in open space.

If you have still queries, want to know more about the tags functionalities feel free to contact me.

All the best, with Regards

Hi, Gong,
RFID Alliance Lab has a nice white paper: UHF EPC Tag Performance Evaluation and you can download it at http://www.rfidalliancelab.org/publications/mmb06.pdf

There is another white paper: UHF RFID Tags Today. It's kind of old, but still useful.
