Is there a health issue for the use of RFID at 13.56 MHz, 915 MHz and 2.45 GHz? |
RFID utilizes the low-end of the electromagnetic spectrum. The waves emitted from readers are no more dangerous than radio waves signaled to your car stereo. The power levels are controlled by their respective agencies in each country. The following are some aspects that are known: 13.56 MHz is between the AM and FM frequencies that have been used for years without known problems even at powers hundreds of times higher. The maximum power level is limited to 4 watts for the United States and most countries. 915 MHz is around the analog cell phone spectrum and has not been found to cause any health concerns at levels below 1 watt. 2.45 GHz is around the frequency of the newer digital cell phones. At 1 watt or less, there have been no proven health concerns. |
